Okushiri Town is located on an island on the Sea of Japan off the southwest coast of Hokkaido called Okushiri Island. The town boasts a thriving fishery industry. Its surrounding ocean is often referred to as “Okushiri Blue” for its crystal clear and bright blue water. The waters produce fresh seafood such as sea urchins and abalone. Visitors can access the island by plane from either Hakodate Airport or Sapporo Okadama Airport, or by ferry from Esashi Port.
